Everest Region

Everest region, located in the northeastern province of Nepal at an elevation of 2845m to 8848m which is the top of the world highest mountains ‘Mt. Everest’, is one of the most famous trekking regions in Nepal. This region is the world of its own with vast glaciers, icefalls, highest mountains and deep valleys. Every people who are unaware of the country Nepal are aware of the Everest region as it beholds the dream of every travel lover and adventure seeker as this region being the home to a various towering mountain of the world including the tallest mountain of the world “Mt. Everest”. Every year, thousands of trekkers and travellers from different parts of the world visit Nepal with a prime motive to reach on the top of the Mt. Everest at 8848m or to trek to the base of the Mt. Everest.

Most of the region of Everest falls under ‘Sagarmatha National Park’, the first national park to be inscribed as Natural World Heritage Site covering an area of 1148 square kilometres, created in July 1976,. This region is dominated by alpine vegetation including shrub rhododendron, dwarf bamboo, pines, junipers and hemlocks woods in the lowlands and vast open mountain terrains and snow-covered acreages on the highlands. We can find some rare and endangered species like the snow leopard, red panda, Himalayan black bear, musk deer, and Himalayan wolves in this region. Everest region also holds mysterious stories of Yeti and people still feel its presence even though very few people seem to have seen it. At Pangboche Monastery, you can even take a thorough look at the preserved “Scalp” believed to be of Yeti.

As you enter this region, you will be showered with the views of mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Tawache, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Cho Oyu and many more. As you trek forward you will find many glaciers such as Ngozumpa Glacier, Khumbu Glacier, Imja Glacier and Amphu Laphcha Glacier flowing through its mountain terrain. Ancient monasteries, Gompas, Chortens, prayers flags and mani walls and hospitable Sherpa habitations are the major element of trekking in Everest Region. Sherpas are the major inhabitants in the Everest region and who now and then are plundering on the toughest terrains of the region and guiding all the mountain aspirants to experience and witness the majesty of the Himalayan.
