Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is one of the most beautiful and least crowded trekking routes of Everest Region. The commercialism and crowds are driving many trekkers away from the Everest Base Camp into the arms of the lovely Gokyo trek Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is an alternative to classic Everest Base Camp trek and offers the trekker with an insight into local village life, impressive views of icy rivers and stony, glacier debris, massive Ngozumpo Glacier, snow-capped mountains with dazzling turquoise lakes of Gokyo.

The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri trek trails offer a terrific view of Thamserku, Amadablam, Khumbila, Kwande, Pumori, Nuptse, Gyachung Kang and many other Himalayas of Everest Region. The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri are the main highlights of this trek.

The Gokyo Lakes are the world’s highest freshwater lake system and considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. During Janai Purnima festival which falls on the month of August, many Hindu devotees take bath in this holy Gokyo Lake. The Gokyo lakes consist of six sparkling, pristine green and blue lakes namely: Thonak Cho, Gokyo Cho (Dudh Pokhari), Gyazumpa Cho, Tanjung Cho, Longponga Tso and Ngojumba Cho located at an altitude of 4700m to 5000m in the Gokyo Valley.

The Gokyo Ri at an elevation of 5386m is an exclusive vantage point and the high peak in the Khumbu region which lies at the same altitude of the Everest Base Camp offers great views of Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Cholatese, Makalu, Tawoche and also the Ngozumpa Glacier.

Cost Detail

  • Airport pick-up and drop services in a private vehicle
  • Applicable domestic airfare(if included) as per the itinerary
  • All ground transportation costs on a comfortable private vehicle as per the itinerary (tourist bus or private vehicles)
  • 3-Star Hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara on “BB” basis as per itinerary (hotel category can be change on guest request)
  • All trekking accommodation costs on full board basis which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The accommodation during the trekking will be in the guesthouses, lodges or tea houses on twin sharing basis but occasionally in the common dormitory especially during peak seasons.

  • A first-aid medical kit (will be carried by the trekking guide)
