Upper Mustang Jeep Tour Itinerary

After early morning breakfast, depending upon the interest of the guest we can either take a 25 minutes domestic flight to Pokhara or take a private vehicle or tourist bus to Pokhara which normally take 5-6 hours. Pokhara is a magnificent city and offers splendid views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapurchhre and Annapurana mountain range. In the evening, you can go for boating on the calm green water of Phewa Lake and visit Bindavasini Temple in the centre of the Lake and enjoy the lush forest hill surrounding the lake.

Today after early breakfast, we drive all the way to Jomson in very comfortable Jeep. En route, we will pass several local villages and Buddhist Stupas and beautiful monasteries. Jomsom is the district headquarters of Mustang and is marked by barren flat trail with craggy rocks and sand. Jomsom is also known as a windy village and it’s very windy in the afternoon. The spectacular view of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and Tukuche peak above Jomsom is breathtaking.

After breakfast, we drive to Ghemi. On the way, we visit Kagbeni, a renowned religious village of Nepal located at the bank of Kali Gandaki river famous for Shaligram stone. Before leaving Kagbeni, your guide will check in your special Upper Mustang permit and being our journey to Upper Mustang. Passing through beautiful villages such as Chella village, Samar village, Syangboche village, and Ghiling village we finally arrive at Ghemi village. 

After breakfast, we proceed to Lo-Manthang at a slow pace exploring the local areas, cultural artefacts and majestic landscapes. On the way to Lo-Mangthang, we visit Ghar Gompa one of the Oldest Monastery of the area representing the history, culture and ancient architecture of Mustang region. We will also visit Charang Monastery, Jampa Gompa, Thubchen Gompa, and Chodey Gompa which beholds the history of the late 15th century. 

Today we spend our day experiencing authentic culture, tradition and lifestyle of this community and exploring ancient monuments, monuments, palace and cultural artifacts of this beautiful ancient city Lo Mangthang. The city is surrounded with white wall and only the north-east gate of wall is open for the entrance. We also drive towards China Border and visit Namgyal Gompa and Chhosar cave and observing the en-route sites. We return to Lo-Manthang for stay.
